Preliminary Programme

We’re delighted to launch the Preliminary Programme for the 7th Healthy City Design 2023 International Congress & Exhibition. Taking place in-person at the Royal College of Physicians’ northern headquarters at The Spine, in Liverpool, the Congress will be the first to be hosted outside of London, in addition to being live streamed through our virtual online event platform.

Dr Carlos Dora has a distinguished career in global public health and environment. Until recently, he co-ordinated the World Health Organization’s global work on health impacts of sector policies (energy, transport, housing, extractive industry) and on articulating a global response to air pollution.

In this keynote, Nathalie will explore the World Health Organization’s urban health agenda and programme of activities, aiming to offer practical guidance on how to integrate health into urban planning and governance.

This keynote describes some strategic steps – such as the complementary use of health impact assessment, quantification of health impacts, and linking climate and health actions to national and global policy processes – to apply a systems-based approach to taking action on climate, health and equity.

Publication of papers

SALUS is partnering with the international Routledge journal Cities & Health to publish a Healthy City Design Congress Special Issue of Cities & Health, providing opportunities for both academic exposure, practitioner impact, and policy insight.

Plenary theme

This year’s plenary theme is ‘Urban renewal and health equity: Charting a sustainable path locally and globally’.
