Sue Morgan

Sue is the Director of Architecture and Built Environment (A&BE) at Design Council, whose mission is to make life better by design. She oversees the organisation’s work to create better and more resilient places, giving strategic and detailed design guidance to clients on subject areas including health and wellbeing, sustainable living and future-proofing development. Since joining Design Council in December 2018, Sue has led the A&BE team’s work on key Government-backed projects including the delivery of the National Design Guide, High Streets Task Force and Home of 2030, and with major infrastructure clients including Network Rail and Highways England.

Sue has a 25-year track record in development and delivery, including management experience at a strategic, policy and operational level. Prior to joining Design Council, Sue was CEO of the Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust and the Director of Around the Block Ltd, a consultancy that prioritises placemaking and helps clients reimagine public space. Sue is also a Board Member of the Parks Alliance, a Civic Trust Buildings & Landscape Awards Assessor, a Landscape Institute Awards judge and Heritage Lottery Fund Mentor. In 1997 she founded Bankside Open Spaces Trust and was, until recently, a long-standing Trustee.
